With the hard times the economy is going through these days more and more Americans are looking to save a buck anywhere and anytime they can. Traveling and commuting are no exceptions since gas prices are fluctuating daily with no end in sight. This is when Hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius come into play and match those requirements. Yet when purchasing vehicles you also consider repair cost and maintenance when things break or modules fail they need to be replaced and initialized or calibrated in order to properly function. When replacing certain individual parts components need to be reactivated and usually only OE scan tools are capable of these tasks.
In later Prius models 2004 and up the standard Brake ECU processes is moved to the Skid Control ECU. When the main components that communicate with the Skid Control ECU have been replaced you must perform initialization/learning of linear solenoid valve and calibrate in order for the brakes to properly function. Scanners have been developed to be comparable to carry out this task. Below is our actual screen shot taking from AUTOBOSS V30 / PC Max scanner:

The Skid Control ECU stores and corrects the difference in each individual part such as:
- Stroke Sensor
- Actuator solenoids
- Stroke simulator solenoid
When any these parts are replaced you must perform initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibrations.
Follow the steps below to carry out the procedure:
1) Connect to DLC port and select "Chassis"
2) Then select "ABS"; Within the ABS module you will select "Special Function"
3) Next select "ECB Utility" and click NEXT
4) Read the precautions before proceeding to ensure that learning/initialization of the linear solenoid valve is what is needed to complete the repair.
5) Once you have completed the prerequisites continue on and follow the steps accordingly to make sure no failures occur or you may put the vehicle in risk of damaging more internal components.
After you have performed initialization of linear solenoid valve and calibration reconfirm the DTC's are no longer outputted and your done!
